The over night Frost Watch is recorded between midday and midday (12:00pm – 12:00pm).
This differs from the rest of the Mountsorrel Weather station where readings are
taken midnight to midnight (00:00am – 00:00am). Problems were found where an air
frost occurs before midnight and then continues through to the following day, thus
resulting in two overnight frosts being recorded. By recording midday to midday
only one overnight frost is therefore recorded.
- An Air Frost is where the Temperature recorded at (1.5 Meters) above the ground falls
- A Ground Frost is where the Temperature recorded at grass height (0.0 Meters)falls below zero.
